Alzheimer’s disease is currently ranked as the sixth leading cause of death, but recent estimates indicate that the disorder may rank third, just behind heart disease and cancer, as a cause of death for older people. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia among older adults. Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning - thinking, remembering, and reasoning, - and behavioral abilities to such an extent that it interferes with a person’s daily life and activities. Dementia ranges in severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person’s functioning, to the most severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of daily living.

Alzheimer’s Disease currently affects an estimated 50 million people worldwide and is expected to triple in 2050. The rate of deaths related to Alzheimer’s disease jumped by 54.5 percent over 15 years. The greatest known risk factor for Alzheimer’s is increasing age. Most individuals with the disease are 65 and older. One in nine people in this age group and nearly one-third of people age 85 and older have Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive

neurodegenerative disease characterized by the abnormal secretion and accumulation of amyloid fibrils which are associated with neurotoxicity in the brain’s hippocampus. Amyloid aggregation can contribute to neuronal cell death and further loss of memory and dementia.

This formula is designed to help support healthy cognitive function of aging adults using science-backed and clinical trial supported ingredients. For instance, clinical studies on the Patented Red Yeast Rice Extract Ankascin™ 568-R indicated that the Amyloid Precursor Protein for Alzheimer’s Disease and other key factors were significantly reduced in the hippocampus which is an area of the brain that is vital for not just forming new memories but in retrieving old memories as well. It is sometimes viewed as the gateway for memories as if the memories need to pass through the hippocampus to be able to be stored in the long-term memory bank.

Our formula also includes other ingredients that have shown to support brain functions. For instance, ginkgo extracts show significant improvements in cognitive performance in patients suffering from Alzheimer’s, vascular or mixed dementia. Honey assists in building central nervous system leading to improvement in memory, reduction of anxiety, and enhancement of intellectual performance. Chinese club moss extract Huperzine A increases levels of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that’s crucial for helping nerve cells send signals to improve memory and mental function in people with Alzheimer disease or other types of dementia. DMAE is also thought to increase acetylcholine production and positively affect mood, enhance memory and brain functions.  Uses of these ingredients in combination help support healthy cognitive function throughout the aging process.
